MEET OUR NETWORK | Minièresbunn Doihl

The Minièresbunn Doihl operates a 700 mm narrow-gauge mining railway at the heart of the Fond-de-Gras industrial and railway park. Its fleet currently includes 51 locomotives originating from different mining operations.

The association’s history began in 1990 with the idea of operating a mining railway using part of the infrastructure of the former MMR-A company, alongside the Train 1900.

For almost a century, Fond-de-Gras and the surrounding region were profoundly shaped by iron ore mining and the steel industry. The creation of the Minièresbunn formed part of a wider effort to preserve and share this industrial heritage.

A living mining and railway heritage

The Minièresbunn offers visitors a tangible way to discover the world of mining through a historic railway journey.

Between Fond-de-Gras and Lasauvage, the line passes through a former mining gallery, offering an immersive experience of the Minett region’s industrial past. The journey also provides an insight into the role played by railways in mining and transporting iron ore.

Over the years, the association has assembled and preserved an important collection of railway equipment originating from different mines. Today, it has 51 locomotives.

Since 2002, the line has also extended to Saulnes in France, making the Minièresbunn probably the first cross-border narrow-gauge heritage railway in the European Union.
