Founded in 1993 in Dudelange, the Documentation Centre for Human Migrations (CDMH) is dedicated to the study of migration history in Luxembourg and the Greater Region, as well as to the preservation of this collective memory.
Since 1996, the CDMH has been located in the former Gare-Usines railway station, a historic building closely linked to the history of immigration and the steel industry in Luxembourg.
The centre acts as an interface between research, heritage institutions, associations and the general public. It collects archives, develops exhibitions and contributes to the transmission of migration history through publications, guided tours and educational projects.
Through its activities, the CDMH helps highlight migration history as an essential component of Luxembourg’s social and cultural history.
Today, the centre serves as a resource for researchers, schools, associations and anyone interested in understanding migration dynamics and cultural diversity.
Main missions:
• Document and study migration history
• Preserve and promote specialised archives and collections
• Organise exhibitions and cultural activities
• Support research and educational projects
• Raise awareness about diversity and collective memory
Through this work, the CDMH contributes to a better understanding of migration trajectories and their role in shaping contemporary Luxembourg.
